Katie and Kyden's Wedding

Katie, Kyden, and I flew to Arizona on Saturday December 27th.  We left Honduras about 1pm and got to Arizona at about 11pm.  Kyden's mom came and picked us up.  She took Katie and I to the Hiatt's house.  Broc and Lori Hiatt (the SPS west mission leaders) told us as soon as they heard that Katie was getting married in the Mesa temple that we had to stay at their house.  Their house is 10 minutes from the Mesa temple.  Their daughter that lives there, came to Honduras for Christmas so their house was going to be empty.  At first we said there was no way we could do that, but they wore us down with their insistence and it was the biggest blessing. It was so nice to have somewhere to gather with all our family and friends. And it saved us so much money.  Plus they let us drive their car.  I cannot believe how generous they were.  My mom, dad, Katie, Kirt, Jon, Cam, and I stayed at the house. It was a beautiful house and each room had a king bed and a bathroom.  Such a blessing!!

On the plane. We even got to sit by each other on both legs.  Nice people traded with us so we could sit together.

Sunday we went to church in with Kyden's family in their ward.  I sat in the hall after the sacrament and listened to Elder Jorgensen report his mission.  He did such a good job.  It was one of the best after the mission talks I have ever heard.  After church, we went back to the Hiatt's house and took a nap.  Kyden came with us (He wore some of Katie's sweats. Had to record this because it made me laugh.) After napters, we went to Kyden's house.  All of his siblings were there except for his sister Tali who is on a mission. All of his siblings had gone to the in-laws for Christmas, so this was the Wilson family Christmas dinner.  After dinner they opened presents.

After dinner and presents we went back to the Hiatt's.  The Hiatt's had decorated their house for Christmas  just for us since they knew we would be staying there.  My mom, dad, Cam, and Jon arrived and we visited with them.

Monday my mom, Katie and I got up and went for a walk.  We talked to Garret as we walked.  Mesa has a bunch of canals and the canals have walking trails on the side of them.  My mom was impressed that the trails had lights (because it was still dark when we were walking) and she said "this trail is lit".  It made Katie and I laugh because she meant that the trail had lights, but the phrase "this is lit" is the expression that kids use these days when something is cool.  You probably had to be there.  After our walk, Katie, Kirt, and I went to breakfast at an acai bowl place with Kyden and his mom and dad, Kim and Dan.  We visited with them.  They are lovely people.  Then Katie, my mom, and I went and got pedicures and manicures with Kyden's mom, sister, and sister-in-laws.  Then in the afternoon we went and played pickle ball.  Brett and Kristie came and played with us.  Then we gathered at the house and had Cafe Rio and visited.  It was my mom, dad, me, Kirt, Katie, Ryan, Angela, Kathleen, Brandon, Karly, Jon, Cam, The Crandall family (Mark, Shauna, Mady, Abby, Logan), Connie, Brett, Kristie, and Melissa and Lily Peterson.

Everyone visiting. Once again, such a blessing to have somewhere to gather!!

Tuesday morning Katie, Grammy, Ryan, and I walked along the canal again.  Then we went back to the Hiatt's house and all got ready for the wedding.  Connie, Tami, Ben, Cindy, and Sam came to the house to visit before the wedding.

We went to the Mesa temple for the sealing.  Katie and Kyden met in the parking lot and they were so excited to see each other! The sealing was perfect.  So many of Katie and Kyden's friends and family were there.  It was perfect.

Katie's mission president and his wife came to the wedding, Keith and Stephanie Forsberg.

There were lots and lots of pictures after the wedding. We don't have the ones from the professional photographer back yet.  The photographer was Tylei Oligschlaeger. She is a friend of Emilie's.  She did Katie and Kyden's engagement photos and the bridal photos.  She was adorable and did such a good job.

After the photos at the temple were done, we went to the reception at the Wright House.  We had a dinner and then Kate Jacobsen did a cute little game where the bride and groom both hold one of their shoes and one of the shoes of their spouse and then they sat back to back so they couldn't see each other.  Then Kate asked a question like, who is the most stubborn, and they each would hold up the shoe of the person they thought was the most stubborn.  (They both held up Katie's shoe for this question in case you were wondering)

Dinner was tacos! And swig!

The reception was so nice.  Kyden's mom did such a nice job.  She planned the whole thing.  She was so nice when we talked on the phone after Katie and Kyden got engaged.  She told me not to worry about anything. That she would plan the wedding and reception and that it was her service since I was serving a mission.  What a blessing! She did an amazing job.  I felt guilty because all we did was show up and enjoy the reception.  She did all the planning, set up, take down, and wouldn't even let us help.  We truly just got to enjoy the evening celebration Katie and Kyden and visiting with friends and family.

Wednesday we had a lazy morning.  I took Katie and Kyden to the airport because I wanted to have another chance to say goodbye because I won't see them again before I go back to Honduras.  Then we all went to lunch (Grammy, Pompa, Ryan and his fam, Jon, Cam, and me).  Then I did a little shopping while my mom and dad went to lunch again with a missionary from their mission (sister Maddie Olsen).  We all hung out at the Hiatt's house for New Years Eve.  The Crandall's joined us too.  We had pizza and played games.  We did fireworks about 9:30pm and went to bed. Everyone in my family is leaving early tomorrow morning except me.

Thursday everyone left about 4:30am for the airport.  I got up and cleaned the house.  I went and visited Broc's mom, Suzette who lives across the street from Broc and Lori.  Lori's friend Kim Shields took me to the airport.  I flew to Atlanta Thursday evening, stayed the night in Atlanta.  Then I flew back to Honduras on Friday morning.

Funny story about the trip.  Kirt flew in late Sunday night from Honduras and he took an Uber to the Hiatt's house.  I told him that I left the front door open.  He said the google image of the house that he saw was the house that is actually Broc's mom's house.  So he went to her house.  The door was open, so he walked in.  He saw an elevator in the house (which the Hiatt's had told us that they had installed in Broc's mom's house) and he realized he was in the wrong house.  He walked out, shut the door, crossed the street and came to Broc and Lori's house.  According to the neighbor, Kim Shields, Broc and Lori, nor Broc's mom, ever lock their front doors.
