Roatan with Mark and Shauna Crandall, Chris and Kerstin Palmer, Devin and Andrea Hatch, and Andrew and Kira Thurbers

Our friends were on a cruise and it stopped in Roatan.  Kirt was already in Roatan visiting the missionaries and working with the branches (Elder Ortiz had gone over with him.  He flew back Monday and Kirt stayed.) I flew over for the day on Tuesday just to see our friends.  We went to a Daniel Johnson's monkey and sloth hang out and went to lunch.  It was so good to see people from Spokane.  We miss all our wonderful friends from Spokane.  (And actually the Palmers and Hatchs don't even live in Spokane anymore. They have both moved away, but we all were in the same ward once upon a time.)

You can also see the Roatan church from the view point looking out the other way from the cruise port

Sloth-they are just out under this covered shelter. They move so slowly that they don't even put them in cages. There is a sloth babysitter that makes sure that they don't wonder out in the trees too fasr away from the covered shelter.

White faced monkeys-we went in their cage and stood in a circle. The guides walked around the inside of the circle with their arms outstretched over our heads with food in their hands.  Sometimes they would drop the food on our heads.  The monkeys would run around the circle on top of our heads eating the food off our heads. I really didn't like it as you can see from my expression.

Church in La Lima and Working with the Planeta ZL's

Kirt and Elder Ortiz went to Roatan for the weekend and I stayed home.  I went to church in La Lima.  There are a lot of missionaries in this ward right now. The AP's and the Hermana Leaders are normally the only 4 in this ward, but right now we have 3 hermana liders plus Hermana Zapata who is injured right now.  One of the Hermana Leaders works in the office with her every day.  Plus we have 2 Elders that were going home mid-transfer, Elder Perez Martinez and Elder Salina, so they are helping out in the office and going out where needed with the AP's and the office elders.  So there were 7 missionareis in the La Lima ward today.

In the afternoon and evening I went out with Elder Juarez and Elder Carmona who are currently the Zone Leaders in the Zona Planeta. We did several lessons with friends and several with members, and did a lot of contacting.

Pres and Elder Ortiz Went to Roatan

Elder Ortiz served on Roatan for 3 transfers and he has been begging to go back.  I really didn't want to go this weekend, so Pres took Elder Ortiz.  They were there from Friday-Monday. He had a blast. He did divisions with all the Elders, helped find a building for the new branch we are starting in Sandy Bay, and visited with a lot of the members and people he converted. Kirt did a lot of interviews.

They went to breakfast with all the missionaries on Roatan on Monday morning.  There are currently 6 Elders and 2 Hermanas serving on Roatan
