Lunch with Elder Mills and His Cousin

Elder Mills is going home the end of this transfer. His cousin, Elder Lewis is serving in the San Pedro Sula West mission. They asked if they could have permission to go to lunch and to the temple together before Elder Mills went home.  I crashed and joined their lunch. Then they came to the house for a little while before the went to the temple.

Hermana Arana is going home tomorrow again.  She went home back in December because she had sprained her ankle so badly and it would not heal.  She rehabilited it at home while continuing to serve her mission as a service missionary.  She returned to our mission about a month ago.  We were so happy and proud of her for returning (I don't think I would have come back to Honduras. She is from Guatemala.) Last Saturday, she got on a bus and it started moving before she could sit down. She lost her balance and fell and twisted her knee very badly. She saw the doctor and he said she tore her MCL and needed surgery.  She is going to return home for her surgery.  She was done in July, so she is just going to be released when she gets home.  We are so sad she is having to go home again.

Mission Tour with Elder and Sister Giuffra

Elder and Sister Giuffra came to visit our mission. They flew in Tuesday May 19th in the afternoon. Kirt picked them up at the airport while I was at the office doing some last minute cleaning and setting up for the zone conference tomorrow. We went to dinner with them at their hotel that night.  Then Wednesday we go up and went to the office.  We had a meeting with the MLC from 8:30-10.  Then we had our multizone 7 zone conference. I spoke about faith and gave my talk in Spanish. I was super nervous but did ok. Kirt spoke about the power of the BOM. Then Hermana and Elder Giuffra spoke.  It was a good meeting. Elder Giuffra spoke for 2 hours. It was a little long but really good.  We took a group photo and had lunch. Elder Giuffra did some interview and then we did 2 house inspections. Then we drove to La Ceiba. (The car ride was a little weird. Elder Giuffra was on the phone or had his headphones in the whole way.  We didn't talk to him at all. Plus I felt like Kirt and I couldn't talk so we rode in silence most of the whole way to Ceiba.  It was a long ride.) We stayed the night in the Quinta Real Hotel. 

As part of setting up for Elder Giuffra the elders had to stack a ton of boxes so that we could have room for the tables for the lunch in the gym.

Added the stake presidents and mission counselors hat attended. Elder Giuffra asked us to invite the stake presidents and their wives and the mission counselors and their wives.  The stake presidents from El Carmen (President Lazo), Satelite (President Gavarette), La Paz (President Velasquez), and Progreso (President Enamorado) and their wives came.  Plus the mission counselors Brother and Sister Medina and Brother and Sister Zavala.

We got up Thursday morning and had the multizone 3 zone conference in La Ceiba from 8-11:30.  We had lunch and Elder Giuffra did interviews.  We were going to go and do divisions with some missionaries in Ceiba, but Elder Giuffra had something come up and needed to go back to San Pedro.  I have never been so happy in my life.  I was tired, and hot, and grouchy and did not want to go out in the heat.  Elder Giuffra at least visited with us on the car ride this time. He gave us some good suggestions of how we can improve our mission. We dropped them off at the hotel and went home.  Another tender mercy of not doing divisions with the missionaries was getting home just in time to be able to use our own bathrooms. Kirt and I both had explosive diarrhea as soon as we got home and all night.  We are in Honduras.

Friday morning, we got up and picked Elder Giuffra and Hermana Giuffra up at the hotel and went back to the office.  We had companionship study with several companionships.  I met with Hermana Adams and Hermana Dominguez.  Then we had another MLC (the 3 far away zones joined by zoom).  Kirt and I had a wrap up meeting with Elder and Sister Giuffra.  We dropped Sister Giuffra off at the airport and took Elder Giuffra to his hotel and the tour was over.  It was wonderful, but so much work! Kirt and I both crashed and took naps.
