Trip to La Mosquitia

Schedule for the Trip La Mosquitia

Kirt and Elder Beattie took a trip to La Mosquitia. The 4 Elders from Trujillo came too (Elders Obando, Reese, Cocón, and Escobar) as well as the Stake President from Ochotillo, the bishop from Trujillo and his family, and about 20 other members from the ward in Trujillo.  La Mosquitia is a very remote place in our mission. We don't currently have any missionaries their, but every missionary in our mission wants to go there.  They have a a branch in Tocamacho with a group leader that used to be a bishop.  It is a branch of the Trujillo ward so the missionaries in the Trujillo ward are teaching the people in the area by zoom and then the group leader is baptizing them.

Drive back to San Pedro

Getting ready to go to La Mosquitia. They took a ton of food, their own mattresses to sleep on, and a bunch of other stuff for the trip. They all rode there in a school bus.

'

Church in Tochamacho. It was outside.

Eating lunch on the beach after church

Elder Cocón eating his mangos.  He ate a ton of them.

There was a Pollolandia way out in the middle of nowhere

President, Beattie, and the 4 Saba Elders-Wilson, Huber, Jones, and Tatlow

The Elders in Saba buy random basketball jerseys off the backs of people in the street in Saba.  They are hilarious.  It is 4 tall North Americans walking around Saba.  To say they stand out is a an understatement.

They drove home on the south route from Saba through Ochotillo, Yoro, Morazan, Negrito, and Yoro.  There is a dirt road for about 60km but it had recently been grated so the route was much faster than through La Ceiba.

Stopped in Yoro to take the Elders there to lunch on the Monday on the way home.
(In a circle left to right) President, Elders Bejarano, Wood, Beattie, Fernandez, and Baer

There was a huge rain storm when President left from the office to come home.  He had to turn around several times because the streets were flooded.
