Zone Conference in Olanchito and 1st Time Tracting with the Missionaries

We had our Zone Conference with the Olanchito and then did interviews afterwards.

Olanchito Zone

After the zone conference we drove back to La Ceiba.  President and I went out with the missionaries.  I went out with Hermana Tucker and Hermana Prichett.  I got to be part of my first lessons as a missionary.  I even prayed twice and bore my testimony in Spanish!

The hermanas introduced me to Pingüinos (they are kind of like Hostess cupcakes)

President Christensen went out with Elder Milla and Elder Jaco.

Zone Conference with the La Ceiba and Miramar Zones

Today we had a Zone conference with the La Ceiba and the Miramar Zones.  After the zone conference we drove to Olanchito.  The roads were terrible!

Our hotel had these awesome paintings of elephants.  I love elephants and have collected them since I was a girl.  Too bad they were $4200 because I would have loved to have bought one of the paintings.

Breakfast at our hotel.

Elder Quiros, President, and Elder Rojas

Elder Jack Williams. We met his parents in the MTC.  They are serving as mission leaders in Brazil.

The AP's went and did exchanges with some Elders in Olanchito, in the Bellavista area, Elder Cadavid and Elder Adanaque.  We did a surprise cleaning visit with the Elders when we dropped the AP's off at their house.

First Road Trip

We went on our 1st road trip today.  We picked the Elder's up at the office and hit the road.  We drove to Tela and had lunch at McDonalds.  We stopped in La Masica on the way and did 4 interviews with some Elders in the Miramar Zone so that we wouldn't have to do so many tomorrow at the Zone Conference.  It was really fun to visit with the AP's and get to know them better.  They are incredible young men.

Beach in La Ceiba right outside from our hotel Quinta Real.  We went to dinner when we got here and there was a big sign on the restaurant that said no weapons and we got patted down before they would let us in to the restaurant.

President Christensen likes to take pictures of his food

The US beat Guatemala in soccer and I took a picture and sent it to the AP's (who are both Guatemalan) and said "Maybe next time?".

Baby Jade is Born!

Our first granddaughter was born!! Jade Lani Christensen was born to our son Tanner and daughter-in-law Emilie on July 2nd at 4:36am. She weighted 8lb 11oz and was 21 inches long. She had a little hard time breathing at first and was in the Newborn Intensive Care for the 1st day, but she is doing well now. She is home with her parents and all are healthy and happy. We are so excited to be grandparents!

Look at how long her fingers and toes are

First Mission Leader Conference

All of the mission leaders (AP's, ZL's and Hermana leaders)  got to go to the temple this morning.  It was an amazing experience.  The temple is beautiful and peaceful and I was so grateful to be there with these amazing missionaries.  They have so much faith and dedication.  After the temple we had the MLC.  Then we did interviews with the leaders that we had not yet interviewed.

Missionaries weekly schedules. At the meeting, one of the major topics that was discussed was the success that we have been having in the zones that are getting out and working earlier (they changed the schedule a few months ago to leave the house at 10:30am instead of after lunch).  We also discussed moving the weekly planning to a different time.
