Setting Apart and Getting Dropped Off at the MTC

Today we got set apart to be missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Elder Renlund.  Elder Casillas also helped with the setting apart.  It was an amazing experience.

Elder Castillas, Mark Spear (sister Christensen's dad), Karen Spear (sister Christensen's mom), Katie Christensen (daughter), Garret Christensen (son), Conine Christensen (President Christensen's mom), Elder Renlund.

We then went and met our daughter's friend Mady Crandall.  She works in the church office building.  We got to go see her office.

Mady works with Sally Woodward who is also from Spokane.  It was so fun to see her too.

Mady took us to the 14th floor of the church office building where they have all the pictures of the current mission presidents.  We had to take a picture of President and Sister Ostler who are the current mission leaders in Honduras SPS East.

Kirt and Garret pointing to their missions.  (Our son Garret is serving in the Chile Concepcion mission starting on June 30th. He will be doing home MTC with his grandparents in Spokane and then going to the Mexico City MTC.)

Mady snuck us in to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  It's under construction but is opening back up on June 30.

We got to go to the 10th floor and look out at the Salt Lake Temple.

All the other new mission leaders

President Trevor and Sister Amy Williams.  Their son Jack Williams is serving in our mission.  They will be serving in the Brazil Santa Maria mission.

President Eric and Sister Carrie Graves. Their cousins the Hawkins live in our ward in Spokane.  They will be serving in the Michigan Detroit mission.

President Spencer. His mission president Gene Chidister was Kirt's bishop when Kirt was a kid.  Elder Chidister introduced Kirt and Spencer. President Spencer will be serving as the mission leader in Panama which is the mission our daughter served in.

President Luis and Siser Sandra Lillo.  They are going to be our son Garret's mission leaders in Chile Concepcion.

We had time today to meet with any missionaries that are in the MTC that are coming to our mission.  There was only one missionary here (because most of them go to the Mexico City MTC).  His name is Elder Trux Wood and he is from Cardston Alberta Canada.

Our schedule for our time at the MTC.  We get to hear every member of the 1st presidency and the quorum of the 12 speak!

Church in El Carmen

We went to church in El Carmen today with Sister Epifania and Sister Chay.  They had a baptism after church that we got to attend.
